ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mark E. Madsen is the author of an upcoming FBI procedural thriller series, Sparklights, currently under submission.
Raised in Cave Junction, Oregon, Mark has spent his life rooted in—and roaming across—the American landscape. He and his wife, Laurel, raised six children and are now the proud grandparents of nine (and counting). In addition to Oregon, Mark has also lived in Washington, Idaho, Utah, California, Oklahoma, and Indiana, gaining a deep appreciation for the diversity of communities that shape the country.
Mark holds bachelor’s and graduate degrees in agricultural economics and spent much of his professional career in economic development consulting, working with cities, counties, and tribal communities throughout the Pacific Northwest and New England. In a strikingly different chapter, he also spent a decade crisscrossing every state in the continental United States as a long-haul truck driver.
These decades of experience—working closely with local governments, tribal nations, and everyday Americans, while quite literally seeing the back roads and forgotten corners of the country—inform Mark’s storytelling. His work blends procedural realism with an intimate understanding of place, people, and the quiet tensions that run beneath the surface of American life.
